Kansas City, KS: The Meat Industry Hall of Fame is delighted to announce Dr. Temple Grandin will deliver the keynote presentation at our Annual Induction Ceremony and Dinner on October 27 at the JW Marriott Hill Country, San Antonio, TX. The event, held in conjunction with the North American Meat Association’s Outlook Conference, will honor the Class of 2012.

Dr. Grandin, a professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, is the leading designer of livestock handling facilities. In North America, almost half of the cattle are handled in a center track restrainer system that she designed for meat plants. She has developed an objective scoring system for assessing handling of cattle and pigs at meat plants, used by many large corporations to improve animal welfare. She is also a leading authority on cattle temperament, environmental enrichment for pigs, and effective stunning methods for cattle and pigs at meat plants.
