Farm Bill Now rally masters of ceremony, Bob Stallman, American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) president and Roger Johnson, president of the National Farmers Union are ready to emcee a critical event for the agriculture industry. Taking place on September 12, 2012 at 11:00 am EDT at Union Square by the Capitol Reflecting Pool, the rally is an effort to build public awareness of the need for Congress to pass a new, comprehensive, five-year farm bill before current farm programs expire on September 30, 2012.

In preparation for the event, several of the more than 46 organizations that have joined the movement including the American Farm Bureau Association, the National Farmers Union, and Association of Equipment Manufacturers, joined together for a press conference during the 2012 Farm Progress Show.

Dennis Slater, President of Association of Equipment Manufacturers says that the Farm Bill is broad. Today, 250,000 jobs in the equipment manufacturing industry are at risk if the Farm Bill isn’t passed before sunset.
