At this year’s annual turkey pardoning event at the White House, President Barack Obama took a jab at Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
According to the White House transcript, Obama said, “Well, good afternoon, everybody. (Turkey gobbles.) (Laughter.) They say that life is all about second chances. And this November, I could not agree more. (Laughter.) So in the spirit of the season, I have one more gift to give, and it goes to a pair of turkeys named Cobbler and Gobbler. The American people have spoken, and these birds are moving forward. (Turkey gobbles.) (Laughter.) I love this bird. (Laughter.)”
Obama’s “one more gift to give” is an “apparent reference to Mitt Romney’s claim after the election that Obama won by giving ‘gifts’ to minority groups,” according to BuzzFeed.
