The Rapid City Journal reports an investigation to find if a cattle disease has spread is underway after a cattle herd in South Dakota tested positive for bovine tuberculosis.

Dr. Dustin Oedekoven, state veterinarian, is working with the herd owner, located in Hutchinson County, veterinarians and USDA officials to see if other farms have been affected.

Oedekoven says the group’s immediate task is to find who’s affected and limit the economic impact of the disease on the state’s cattle industry.
