Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) says she received death threats about gun legislation introduced last week.

“They said they were going to kill me,” Maloney said, according to the New York Daily News.

Maloney introduced new legislation on Friday that would require gun owners to have liability insurance. The congresswoman from New York said it’s “not unusual to have calls saying they don’t like the bill. You get calls in support and opposition.”

The three calls, received by staffers and an intern on Tuesday, shook Maloney so much that she said she skipped a dinner event that night.
