The 53rd National Finals Rodeo is back in Las Vegas for the 27th year at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The NFR is a championship event held annually by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

The event moved to Las Vegas in 1985.

Almost 120 cowboys and cowgirls will be competing in Las Vegas for $6 million dollars and a bunch of shiny gold buckles during the 10-day sold-out event that began last night.

The event draws thousands of fans each year to Las Vegas and pumps millions of dollars into the local economy.

Each cowboy and cowgirl is guaranteed to make about $14,000 minimum at the event.
