Utility industry officials are bending the ears of White House aides as federal regulators craft first-time carbon emissions standards for power plants.

Officials with the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) met with White House and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aides in July, according to a meeting record posted recently by the White House Office of Management and Budget.

The meeting was about carbon rules for new power plants, according to the record, which lists the various attendees at the meeting with EEI, the trade group that represents for-profit utilities.
