Among all the misguided, misinformed attacks livestock producers endure from animal-rights extremists and their allies, I came across some of the same from an unexpected source this week: hunters. You know – the same ones who want permission, and sometimes pay good money, to hunt on your land and benefit from the wildlife habitat farmers and ranchers provide.

I was browsing an online forum about hunting (in my non-company time) when I saw a question regarding how to reply when a non-hunter asks a hunter if he or she “feels sorry” for the game animals they kill. Most of the responses were well reasoned, some were ridiculous (this is the Internet, remember) and some respondents, surprisingly, based their answers on their perceptions of the horrors of livestock production.
