Reser’s Fine Foods expanded a recall announced this week to include dozens of ready-to-eat products sold by a variety of familiar restaurants and retailers, including Safeway and Walmart.

All the items sold across the United States and Canada were produced at the Oregon company’s s Topeka, Kan., salad-making facility.

No illnesses and deaths have been reported because of the Topeka plant.

The voluntary recall was first announced Tuesday after testing in Canada detected listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious or deadly health effects. The recall was expanded Saturday over concerns that more products might have been cross-contaminated.

A list of the products is available at the Food and Drug Administration website.

Each of the recalled products can be has the same numeric code — 20 — following the use-by date.

The products include pasta, beans, potato salad, cole slaw, deviled eggs, tuna salad, seafood salad, egg salad, salsa, pimento spread, crab dip, ambrosia, apple salad and other such products. Some products include chicken, ham and beef.

Besides retailers, the products were distributed by Sysco, a major restaurant supplier.
