A state-inspected facility in Ohio discovered a possible E. coli contamination in ground beef originating from National Beef Packing Co. in Dodge City.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a news release that National Beef is recalling more than 60,000 pounds of ground beef. The USDA lists this as a Class I Recall with a high health risk.

E. coli is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration and in severe cases, kidney failure. The very young, seniors and people with weak immune systems are most susceptible. As of now, no reports of illnesses associated with the beef have been reported, according to the USDA
