Billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer is kickstarting a $2 million disaster relief fund for victims of wildfires and other extreme weather he says is brought on by climate change.

Steyer plans to unveil the Climate Disaster Relief Fund Friday with his wife Kat Taylor, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The fund will be managed by the San Francisco Foundation, which will provide grants to organizations serving the victims of “climate-related disasters” in the U.S.

Steyer plans to have the fund help those dealing with the wildfires in Western states first.

He said the fund will also provide grants to victims of droughts, floods, and weather-related oil spills in the future, according to the Chronicle.
