Dan Kedmey of Time reports that McDonald’s faced its worst global decline in sales in more than a decade in August with a 3.7% sales drop. Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa led the drop with a 14.5% decrease in sales.

The fastest falling sales were in Japan and China probably due to the company’s recent issues with expired meat in those areas. In the U.S., sales dropped 2.8%. Sales in Europe went down 0.7%, even though sales were up in the United Kingdom. Alleged sanitary issues in Russia, which led to store closures, counteracted the U.K.’s boosted sales.
