Most recently, he missed a major commemoration event for his late predecessors, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Un, which is causing all sorts of speculation about his whereabouts. According to CNN, rumblings of a coup are now part of the discussion, in part because he’s replaced so many of his top lieutenants since inheriting power, including his late uncle, and in part because there’s so much dissension in the ranks. (His top two deputies, for example, recently and unexpectedly opened up diplomatic negotiations with South Korea).
