Nearly 30,000 of Lois Lerner’s missing emails were recovered, the Treasury Department inspector general informed congressional staffers Friday.

The emails, found on backup disaster recovery tapes, were permanently lost. The IRS will continue searching backup tapes for more lost emails from Lerner and her underlings that might still exist.

“Though it is unclear whether TIGTA has found all of the missing Lois Lerner e-mails, there may be significant information in this discovery,” outgoing House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa told the Washington Examiner.
