Texas state representative Chris Paddie (R-Marshall) is proposing two new tax holidays for the Lone Star State–one to coincide with the beginning of dove season and another to coincide with the beginning of deer season.

According to the Star-Telegram, Paddie said his bill “recognizes that hunting is time-honored tradition in Texas and looks to give tax relief to the sportsmen and women who continue one of our most cherished pastimes.” He said the two new tax-free holidays would encourage more people to hunt via the lower prices, and that in turn would mean “further economic opportunity in many rural areas that offer world-renowned hunting.”
