The federal government wastes “half or more” of the $70 to $80 billion it spends each year on Information Technology (IT), spending six times more on IT per employee than the private sector, according to a recent study.
On average, the federal government spends $36,162 per employee on IT compared to less than $5,000 spent in the private sector, according to the study, which was released last month by the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM).
