Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) told on Thursday the United States should “definitely form a trade agreement” with Vietnam, which is an authoritarian state governed by a communist regime.

“The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is an authoritarian state ruled by a single party, the Communist Party of Vietnam,” says the latest State Department report on human rights in Vietnam. The Congressional Research Service, in a report published in March, said an estimated 40 percent of Vietnam’s output comes from state-owned enterprises.
