Tennessee Army and Air National Guard members with valid Tennessee handgun permits will now be allowed to carry handguns at state armories and facilities.

Maj. Gen. Max Haston, Tennessee’s adjutant general, announced the decision Thursday.

The move comes after last month’s attack at a Chattanooga military facility that left four Marines and a sailor dead.

After the shooting, Gov. Bill Haslam tasked Haston with increasing security of military personnel and facilities.
