Paul Ryan:

“Well, uh, to be perfectly candid with you, Jake, I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now. And, I hope to though. And I want to but I think that what is required is that we unify this party. And I think the bulk of the burden to unify the party will come from the presumptive nominee.”


After House Speaker Paul Ryan walked back from his previous pledge that he would support the eventual Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump is taking on the Wisconsin Republican with a pointed statement of his own.

“I hope to support our nominee, I hope to support his candidacy going forward,” Ryan said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Thursday afternoon. “I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now.”

A short time later, the presumptive Republican nominee responded with his own dig at the most powerful elected Republican in the country. More
