Even an event just like this one doesn’t change people’s minds. They continue to double down on what they already believe. I’m hoping those in the LGBT community will think about it long and hard. It’s a them vs. the situation. To read about one or two gays being thrown from rooftops some thousands of miles away is one thing, but now they should realize that they don’t have any protection here in the U.S. unless there is a change in government.

The Hill: Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton early Monday renewed a call for gun control following the deadliest mass shooting in the nation’s history.

Clinton said on CNN’s “New Day” that the suspected shooter, Omar Mateen, used a “weapon of war” to gun down 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla. early Sunday.

“We have to sort through the decision,” Clinton said.

“Yes, there is a right for law-abiding, responsible Americans to own guns. And yes, there are reasonable common-sense measures to try to keep people safe from guns. We’ve got to figure out the best way to move forward on that,” she said.

Clinton called for the assault-weapons ban to be reinstated. The suspected Orlando gunman had a pistol an AR-15 style rifle, according to authorities.

Clinton also pushed back on attacks from her GOP presidential rival Donald Trump, who has blasted her as weak in going after terrorism in the wake of the attack.
