Mitt Romney won the Puerto Rican Republican presidential primary contest on Sunday, the Associated Press quoted an election official as saying.

The former Massachusetts governor won all 20 of the island’s delegates at stake, because he won more than 50% of the votes.

The campaign for Puerto Rico’s support served as a fresh reminder of how intensely the GOP candidates are fighting for every delegate. Both Rick Santorum and Mr. Romney traveled to the U.S. territory, while Newt Gingrich sent a daughter to woo voters.
