A proposed budget for the Department of Homeland Security approved by the House Appropriations Committee includes $75 million for construction of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan, Kan.

The committee approved the proposed budget Wednesday for the next fiscal year, beginning Oct. 1. The Kansas City Business Journal reports the budget will go before the full House for approval in the near future.

President Obama did not include any money for the facility in his 2013 budget, however the committee recommended releasing an additional $90 million which was included for the project in the 2011 and 2012 fiscal year budgets.
