You and your guns are welcome. That was the message from Mayor Mike Huether, Wednesday.

Wednesday morning, he signed an executive order lifting a ban on carrying guns on city property. But there is still one restriction.

The Mayor signed an executive order and together, with the police chief and city attorney, they say the only people who are not allowed to carry firearms onto city property are city employees. The public still has the freedom to do so.

Mayor Mike Huether said the city follows the law of the land, just like its citizens.

“In this country, in this state, in this city, if you are a law abiding citizen and you follow the laws involving firearms, you too, are protected with the right to bear arms,” Mayor Mike Huether said.

An executive order in 1995 banned city employees from carrying firearms on city property.
